Orthopedic

Orthopedic Massage combines elements of medical and sports massage. Treatment begins by identifying the specific muscles, tendons or ligaments causing the problem.  Myofascial and friction techniques are utilized to stimulate the body to lay down new fibers. Tendons and ligaments do not get the blood supply that muscles get so healing is often slower.

With specific strokes, Orthopedic massage can bring more blood flow to these tissues and speeds up the healing.  In addition, the technique helps to create smoother, stronger more agile fibers that will lessen the chance of reinjury.

Among the conditions that can be treated:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and other wrist or hand pain

Low back and sacral pain

Sciatic pain

Ankle Sprain

Whiplash and other neck pain

Rotator cuff injuries

Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow

Achilles Tendinitis

Plantar Fasciitis

Pain from poor posture

Arthrossage

Arthrossage utilizes compression techniques and joint mobilization to relieve pain in the muscles and joints while slowing further degeneration.  It is a therapy designed to prevent and treat arthritis. By elongating the muscle fibers it can reduce muscle wasting and improve blood flow to muscles and joints. For athletes, it will shorten recovery time from training and decrease the proclivity of injury.

Arthrossage is also a great pretreatment to Chiropractic adjustments. It can be done in loose clothing if preferred.

This method of massage is helpful for Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis as well.

Craniosacral Therapy

Marjory Basso has been trained in the Sutherland-Sills Biodynamic approach to Craniosacral Therapy. She has been utilizing Craniosacral Therapy in her massage practice since 2003. This is a very gentle hands on therapy bringing an opportunity for the nervous system to balance itself. It encourages the natural healing mechanisms of the body.  Marjory also integrates cranio-fascia methods into her work. This can help release strains and congestion in the head, neck and spine. This is a deeply relaxing gentle therapy.
